Figure 14 is titled "Past Month Alcohol Use among U.S. Residents Aged 18 or Older Who Are Either U.S.-Born Persons or Foreign-Born Persons from Canada." It is a bar graph, with the following note below the graph: "Source: SAMHSA, Office of Applied Studies, National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 1999–2001." The horizontal axis represents the country of birth, and the vertical axis represents the percentage using in the past month. There are two categories of country of birth: United States and Canada. Within each country of birth category, the bar is separated into three sections corresponding to the types of alcohol use: Past Month Alcohol Use, which does not include binge use or heavy use; Past Month Binge Alcohol Use, which does not include heavy use; and Past Month Heavy Alcohol Use.

Among persons born in the United States, 52.4% were past month alcohol users, 22.3% were past month binge alcohol users, and 6.5% were past month heavy alcohol users.

Among persons born in Canada, 64.5% were past month alcohol users, 19.4% were past month binge alcohol users, and 5.3% were past month heavy alcohol users.
