WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Aid (ACVFA) was established by Presidential directive after World War II to serve as a link between the U.S. Government and private voluntary organizations active in humanitarian assistance and development work overseas.
Topics to be discussed will include:
- ACVFA's Chairman will report on the ACVFA paper, An Effective U.S. Foreign Assistance Program: Reflections from the Advisory Committee on Foreign Aid.
- Acting USAID Administrator Alonzo Fulgham will provide the keynote address, providing insights on the transition and a variety of other ongoing policy initiatives at the Agency, including food security, civilian/military issues and aid effectiveness.
- Deputy Secretary Jacob Lew will provide an update on foreign assistance, followed by a panel of experts discussing the state of foreign assistance. Steven Radelet, Carol Adelman and George Ingram will comprise the panel.
