A
fugitive wanted by the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department (SCMPD)
was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and
the SCMPD K-9 unit on October 1, 2008.
Shahee Gordon, 21, was being sought on warrants issued in Savannah, Georgia
charging him with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Fleeing to Elude,
and Criminal Damage to Property. The incident occurred on September 18,
2008, in the 5000 block of Ogeechee Road in Savannah. SCMPD Officers were
attempting to stop Gordon in reference to being in a stolen vehicle. Gordon
saw the officers and tried to run over the officer with the car. In the
process, Gordon struck a hotel and caused severe damage. Gordon was also
charged Fleeing to Elude. Gordon then made his escape and has been on the
run since the incident.
The case was turned over to the U.S. Marshals Savannah Office of the
Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force to locate and arrest. Task Force
members worked numerous leads in their attempts to locate Gordon. Task Force
members located Gordon in a house at 816 East Gwinnett Street in Savannah.
Task Force members surrounded the house and with the assistance of SCMPD K-9
were able to arrest Gordon without incident. Gordon was transported to the
Chatham County Jail to await his court appearance. This is the second time
that the Marshals Task Force has arrested Gordon in the last twelve months.
The first arrest was for armed robbery.
