In the News Okinawan Group to Visit USGS Brown Treesnake Research Lab In order to help the endangered Okinawan rail, Okinawan middle school students are visiting Guam August 16-20 to learn about the Guam rail and the impact of invasive species on native wildlife. As part of the course, the students will tour the USGS Brown Treesnake Research Lab at Ritidian Point for hands-on learning about snake research, control, and methods for preventing this destructive, non-native snake from invading other Pacific Islands as well as the continental U.S. The students will be accompanied by Okinawa Times reporters, a TV cameraman, and representatives from Okinawa's Conservation and Animal Welfare Trust. |
