Congressional Arts Competition 2008 winners announced
 

Honolulu, Hawaii -- The annual Congressional Arts Competition -- Kaha Ki‘i (An Artistic Discovery) -- for high school students in the First Congressional District announces the winners of the 2008 competition.

Lacey Kaawaloa of Kamehameha Schools won Best in Show for her digital photograph “Take Me Back.” Ms. Kaawaloa’s prize package includes a trip to Washington, D.C. this summer to see her artwork on display in the U.S. Capitol, custom framing and gift card from PicturesPlus, a 30 gigabyte Apple iPod, software and a web camera from Microsoft and other prizes

In addition to Best in Show, the top 10 students in 2-Dimensional as well as Computer Generated/Photography categories were honored. They received prizes ranging from iPods to iTunes cards to certificates for artwork framing from PicturesPlus, software and web cameras from Microsoft, among others.

The complete list of winners appears below. The 120 students who entered each received a gift bag that included a Jamba Juice coupon, mug, Hawaiian Host candies and school supplies.

The contest was organized by the volunteer Congressional Arts Competition of Hawai‘i, with Congressman Neil Abercrombie as the event’s honorary chair.
