Abercrombie seeking US House page applicants

 
Washington, DC -- Congressman Neil Abercrombie is seeking a high school student interested in serving as a House of Representatives page in Washington, DC for the three-week 2006 summer session.

 

The summer session begins Sunday, June 11, and ends Friday June 30.

 

The deadline for submitting completed applications is April 30.

 

Applicants should contact Keala Tim Sing of Abercrombie’s Honolulu office (541-2570) for more information. Applicants should be prepared to provide education transcripts, a letter of reference, and a cover letter describing their background and interest in the position.

 

House pages work as messengers in the U.S. Capitol complex and live in a supervised dormitory.

 

Applicants must:

 

  • Be at least 16 years old before June 11

 

  • Be United States citizens

 

  • Have completed the 10th grade, but not yet started the 12th grade

 

  • Be residents of Hawaii’s First Congressional District (Honolulu, Aiea, Pearl City, Mililani, Ewa Beach, and most of Waipahu).

 

Pages will receive about $1,200 for the three-week session and pay $100 per week for meals and lodging.

 

Pages are responsible for their transportation costs to and from Washington, DC.
