Update: The New Orleans VA Regional Office will be moving to a new location. The Regional
Office should be relocated to 1250 Poydras Street in New Orleans by May 2009. The Regional Office
will operate from this one location which is two blocks from the Louisiana Superdome. Hours of operation
will be 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
General:
The VA Regional Office in New Orleans serves 326,000 veterans throughout the state of Louisiana.
The office administers an array of benefits for veterans, their dependents and survivors including
a complete program of Compensation and Pension Benefits, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment
Program, and Home Loan Benefits information.
Due to Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Regional Office now operates out of two locations.
Our Loyola Avenue office is located downtown adjacent to the Superdome and a short distance
from the Mississippi River and the City's historic French Quarter. Our Public Contact Interview
Unit operates from the Gretna and New Orleans facility.
Our administrative and VR&E staff are located on the Westbank in Gretna at 671A Whitney Avenue.
The office is located at the corner of Friedrichs Road and Whitney Avenue.
Both locations are open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
