Located on the Fort Snelling military reservation, the St. Paul VA Regional Office (VARO) moved to its present site in the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building in May 1969.

The St. Paul VARO serves nearly one-half million veterans in geographic Minnesota with over $500 million in VA benefits annually from compensation, pension, and vocational rehabilitation programs.

ST. PAUL VA REGIONAL OFFICE BENEFIT PROGRAMS

  • VETERANS SERVICE CENTER (VSC)
    The St. Paul Veterans Service Center administers benefits to veterans in the State of Minnesota. Benefit programs include compensation for service connected disabilities; death compensation for surviving spouses, children or parents; and dependency and indemnity compensation for spouses, children, helpless children, and parents. Other benefits include adaptive equipment for automobiles, clothing allowances, burial, headstone, and flag.

  • PENSION MANAGEMENT CENTER (PC)
    In 2001, St. Paul was selected as the site for one of three Pension Management Centers (PMC) in the Department of Veterans Affairs. PMCs process annual Eligibility Verification Reports and most other adjustments of benefits for individuals in receipt of non-service connected Disability Pension, Death Pension and Parents Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC). In May 2008 the PMCs also began to work original claims for Pension benefits. In November 2008, the PMCs began the process of transitioning in Survivor Benefits claims from the Home Regional Offices. In January 2009, St. Paul PMC began working Minnesota’s dual claim benefits in which both Service-Connected Compensation and Non-Service Connected Disability Pension are claimed.   • VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION & EMPLOYMENT (VR&E)
    VR&E's main task is to provide vocational counseling and employment assistance to eligible, service-connected disabled veterans under 38 USC Chapter 31. The goal of the program is to assist disabled veterans in obtaining and maintaining suitable employment. Additionally, VR&E assists more severely disabled veterans, who are deemed unable to work, with services to achieve greater independence in daily living. VR&E provides vocational and educational counseling under 38 USC Chapter 36 for eligible servicemembers, veterans and their dependents, including current beneficiaries under 38 USC Chapters 30, 32, 35, 1606 and 1607. VR&E also vocational counseling and employment provides services to eligible dependents under 38 USC Chapter 18 Vocational Training and Rehabilitation for Vietnam Veterans' Children with Spina Bifida, as well as special restorative training under 38 USC Chapter 35.


  • REGIONAL LOAN CENTER (RLC)
    Since 1962, all Loan Guaranty programs for Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota are under the jurisdiction of the St. Paul VA Regional Office. In 1997, St. Paul was selected to be one of nine Regional Loan Centers, expanding our Loan Guaranty jurisdiction to nine states throughout the Midwest. The Regional Loan Center services: Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and Wisconsin. Active VA home loans for this region are valued at $21.3 billion.
