SPOTLIGHT: NLC Officers Pledge Support for Stimulus on Capitol Hill
  With a message of partnership, NLC's Officers were on Capitol Hill last week to welcome Congressional leadership and the President-elect back to Washington and to pledge the support of America’s cities and towns in national recovery efforts. NLC’s leaders urged Congress to include infrastructure investment, assistance for vulnerable families in any stimulus package, as well as mechanisms to get credit flowing through the economy again. Full Story
 


Commission Recommends Bond Market Remedies to NLC
NLC, in cooperation with the National Association of Counties, created a Blue Ribbon Commission on Municipal Credit Enhancement last fall to identify remedies to improve market access and reduce municipal borrowing costs. A final report recently issued by the commission recommends three actions that NLC and others can take to help stabilize the municipal bond market. Full Story   Download Report
