Science Education Community Service Time

Science Education Community Service Time is time off with pay that may be granted to LANS full-time or part-time employees, at the discretion of their supervisors.

Science education activities that qualify for community service time include judging science fairs; helping with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related career fairs; giving STEM-related talks and demonstrations in classrooms and at schools; and tutoring as part of an organized program.  Up to 32 hours per fiscal year of time off with pay may be granted to a LANS employee for these activities.

Science Education Community Service Time helps sustain and strengthen community partnerships that connect the Laboratory with our northern New Mexico neighbors. Click here to request Science Education Community Service Time. For more information contact Tom Cordova at 665-4400.
