Climate of 2002 - August
West Virginia Drought

National Climatic Data Center, 13 September 2002

This month ranked as the fifth driest August in the 108-year record, statewide. The short-term dryness interrupted a recent wet spell, which itself followed a longer-term dry spell where September-August ranked as the 24th driest such 12-month period (see top right graph and table below).
