The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Miami Field Division is committed to the very best anti-drug training, not only for DEA personnel, but also for our State and Local law enforcement counterparts in Florida. Every year the DEA Miami Field Division presents a variety of training courses, the most prominent being the DEA Basic Narcotics Investigator's Course. This two-week program is designed for police officers new to drug law enforcement. The attendees will be given current and relevant information in a variety of topics, including: Officer Survival; Drug Identification; Surveillance Techniques; Asset Forfeiture; Undercover Techniques; Informant Management; Case Development; Legal Issues Pertaining to Narcotics Investigations; and Conspiracy Law. As a progression, the DEA Advance Narcotics Investigator's Course presents more highly developed drug information in a 4-5 day program. The Advanced Course is designed for drug law enforcement officers with at least two years of experience who need to learn how to develop investigations targeting organizations which are more complex and above the street-level dealers. In addition to the above courses, the DEA Miami Field Division presents an assortment of other programs throughout Florida. We can develop a program to address the particular needs of the counter-drug investigators in your agency. Drug trafficking organizations are always changing their methods of operation to continue making profits. If we are to be effective in disrupting these organizations we need to not only stay abreast of current trends, but we also need to continue working together and sharing resources. It is only through this cooperation that we can provide the quality of service that our citizens demand and deserve. The Miami Field Division Training Unit stands ready to assist in your training needs to further our collective counter-drug mission.
