How it works
When you click on the link that takes you to a secure form, you make a secure
connection directly to the server hosting our website. This link between our
server and your computer is verified and any information you send via our form
will be protected from interception. The technology used is Secure Sockets Layer
(SSL) with a server certificate.
How to tell if you have a secure
connection
Your browser will tell you that you are making a secure connection. You may
see a message in a pop-up window, or a broken key icon on your browser bar will
change to an unbroken key, or some browsers will show an unlocked padlock for an
insecure connection and a locked padlock for a secure connection. Every browser
has its own way of telling you that a secure connection has been established.
Why we offer this option
Typically this sort of connection is used to send credit card information. We
believe your personal information is important and should be protected, so that
is why the Railroad Retirement Board is using this technology.
Why we can't reply via e-mail E-mail is
not secure
You are contacting us through secure messaging. We have no way to contact you
back with a secure message. If we can identify you and have your telephone
number or address in our records, we will furnish any personal information by
telephone or letter. This helps to ensure we do not send your personal
information to someone asking for it without your knowledge.
