Get involved

Advocacy/Advisory groups

We actively seek involvement from a wide variety of people, whether they're consumers of our services, providers, or others. We believe that we make the best decisions when we hear from diverse points of view.

Become a foster parent

Foster parents are essential partners of the state's services to children. Without foster parents there would be no place for some children to learn to feel safe and know what it means to have someone care just because they are there.

Caregiver relief - Lifespan Respite Care program

Respite care is temporary, short-term care for an individual with special needs, such as developmental and physical disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, chronic illnesses, Alzheimer's disease and related health concerns, medical fragility, and those at risk of abuse and neglect.

Mandatory abuse and neglect reporting

Oregon state law mandates that workers in certain professions must make reports if they have reasonable cause to suspect abuse or neglect. These people are called mandatory reporters and they are a crucial link in the system to protect Oregon’s most vulnerable citizens.

Lead a "Living Well with Chronic Conditions" workshop

Leader training for Living Well/CDSMP is available regularly in Oregon. There are also opportunities to receive leader training for the Spanish language/cultural version of the program (Tomando Control de su Salud). Please click the link below for the latest list of leader training opportunities in Oregon.

Statewide volunteer opportunities

Volunteers are an integral part of the Department of Human Services. There is a broad range of volunteer opportunities that help serve DHS clients and staff.
