NNSA Marks Two-Year Anniversary of Sandia’s MESA Complex

NNSA is pleased to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the Microsystems and Engineering Sciences Applications (MESA) complex at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, N.M., by launching a new multimedia gallery highlighting MESA and its work.  The gallery, which features a photo slideshow and videos, is available here. (Note: videos and slideshow are hosted externally.)

Sandia has the primary role of developing and designing the electronic systems that operate nuclear warheads. A key component of those systems are radiation hardened microelectronics, devices that are designed, qualified, and fabricated in Sandia’s MESA facilities.

The $518 million MESA project, the largest in Sandia history, was formally dedicated on Aug. 23, 2007, and was completed in eight years — three years ahead of schedule — and $50 million under budget.
