Profile:
Maui County Health Volunteers is managed by the Maui District Health Office, Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program, and is funded through capacity building grants from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Our unit collaborates with other Hawaii Medical Reserve Corps units and local agencies, such as Maui County Civil Defense, American Red Cross, Community Emergency Response Teams, and numerous public, private, and non-profit agencies. MCHV is affiliated with the Hawaii Medical Reserve Corps which includes one unit from each of the four main counties in the state. We are linked to the Emergency System for Advance Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals (ESAR-VHP).

MCHV members to provide hepatitis B vaccination to Maui Fire Department staff.

MCHV members to provide hepatitis B vaccination to Maui Fire Department staff.

9/16/2008
Members will assist with registration, flow, and vaccination at flu vaccination campigns throughout the county, from Mid-September through early Devember.

9/15/2008
MCHV members to assist Maui District Health Office in the checking of consent forms for the upcoming STOP FLU AT SCHOOL statewide flu vaccination program. Members will be checking for errors and determining the number of students and teachers who will be vaccinated in Maui County's public and private schools.

8/29/2008
MCHV members attended an employee health fair at the Grand Wailea Resort between 1000-1400. MCHV members assisted with preparedness information and free blood pressure checks.

8/25/2008
Quarterly meeting of the MCHV members was held at the Maui Electric Company Auditorium, 1700-1900. Dr Zacarias Asuncion presented a seminar titled TRIAGE IN MASS CASUALTY. MCHV members also participated in a POD drill to assess the new family screening form as well as new dispensing process following the CRI model.

8/21/2008
MCHV members provided hepatitis B vaccination to Maui Fire Department staff over three days. MCHV members also provided education on the vaccine and hepatitis. This was the second in the vaccination series for some of the firefighters. Another set of vaccinations have been scheduled for September 24-26.
