JOHN S. RAMSDELL IS AWARDED THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE SILVER MEDAL

The Department of Commerce has awarded one of its highest honors to John S. Ramsdell of NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Ramsdell’s award will be honored on Friday, Oct. 24, at a ceremony in College Park, Md. NOAA is an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Ramsdell will receive the Department of Commerce Silver Medal for his efforts in designing a method that rapidly responds to the needs of coastal managers. Ramsdell is a toxicologist with NOAA’s National Ocean Service’s National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS). NOAA is an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The Department of Commerce Silver Medal Award is awarded to Commerce employees who display distinguished performance and contributions that positively impact the mission of the Commerce Department. Ramsdell is being honored for his design of an organizational structure that quickly responds to coastal managers needs during marine mortality events. The adaption of this model created a highly successful method of readiness and capability in such instances.
