Consumer Updates: Vaccines, Blood & Biologics
Consumer Updates are timely articles that cover product approvals, safety warnings, and other health information for you and your family. You can sign up to receive e-mail alerts about new articles immediately after they are posted on FDA's Web site, or on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. You can also sign up for an RSS feed. Some of these articles are available in Spanish.
Consumer Updates related to biologics are featured on this page. Biologics are medical products derived from living sources. They include vaccines, blood and blood derivatives, allergenic patch tests and extracts, tests to detect HIV and hepatitis, gene therapy products, cells and tissues for transplantation, and new treatments for cancers, arthritis, and other serious diseases. FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) regulates a wide range of biological products. The agency's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) also regulates certain categories of biological products.
