Colbie Caillat credits the website MySpace with helping her develop the fan base she needed to secure a record deal and release her debut album, Coco.  She says her influences for the record ranged from soul to reggae to classic rock, and included her father, a recording engineer and producer who convinced Caillat to become a songwriter. 

Now working on her second album, Caillat spoke with VOA's Larry London about the path her career has taken so far, the future, and the story behind her music videos.
