  • Adapt the Stay in Circulation Week calendar listing by including what your organization has planned for the week.  Send the listing as soon as possible to Web sites, news organizations, and other media with calendar listings.

  • Customize and distribute a pitch letter to all media you think might have an interest in learning about and promoting Stay in Circulation Week.  Contact assignment desks and health/medical reporters to provide background information and to encourage them to write stories that coincide with Stay in Circulation Week events.  Newsrooms are inundated with pitches so make yours concise.  It's helpful to have notes handy to stay on target during conversations with reporters.

  • Customize and distribute your media alert 1-2 weeks prior to Stay in Circulation Week.  Proactively call radio stations and morning television programs to get information about Stay in Circulation Week on the air and local campaign spokespersons as guests in the studios.  Highlight your spokesperson's availability and be prepared for last-minute requests.  Flexibility is key.

  • Distribute your press release early on Monday morning, to announce the kick off of Stay in Circulation Week.  Followup with all media to ensure receipt of the release and to provide any additional information.

  • On the day of your event(s), make final followup phone calls to local reporters to generate additional interest.
