Summary
Postdoctoral Position in High Pressure Mineralogy and Geochemistry: The Los Alamos Neutron Scattering Center (LANSCE-LC) is seeking a postdoctoral candidate to work on Earth materials under high pressure and high temperature conditions. With a mission to conduct on-going high pressure research to study geological materials relevant to high-P clay-hydrous phases and global carbon cycle, primary responsibilities will include high P-T neutron/x-ray diffraction study of hydrous/carbonate phases, neutron radiography and computed tomography study of porous rock formations, crystallographic and mineralogical analyses on trace depositions related to sediments in reaction with fluid flows, experimental aspects of geological sequestration of carbon dioxide. The candidate is expected to publish the results of his/her basic research in the open literature and present it at relevant conferences.
Desired Skills
Previous experience with mineralogy, high pressure experiments, and neutron/x-ray diffraction technologies is highly desirable.
Education
A Ph.D. in Geophysics, Geochemistry, and Materials Science, or a related field completed within the last five years or soon to be completed is required.
