The Office of Consumer
Affairs’ mission is to educate and protect the citizens of
Summit County and those visitors to the county from
unfair, deceptive or unconscionable consumer sale
practices and predatory mortgage lending practices. We
enforce consumer protection laws through education,
complaint mediation, and investigation. The office is
working together with local, county, state, and federal
agencies, non-profit and community-based organizations,
and local business leaders to ensure an honest, safe, and
informed marketplace for consumers and businesses.
The office is committed to consumer education through
consumer alerts and participation in speeches to civic,
church, school, and community groups. In addition, we have
informative consumer Fact Sheets covering a wide variety of
topics including home repair/remodeling, free credit
reports, phishing, rebates, mail order, and predatory
mortgage lending available.
If you are experiencing a consumer problem regarding the
purchase or solicitation of goods and services, for
personal, family or household use such as automotive sales
or repairs, home improvement repairs, Internet fraud,
fraudulent prize notifications, failure to deliver or
refund, misrepresentations by merchants or telemarketers,
and other consumer transactions, please contact our office
