Name Change for the S Fund Benchmark Index

On June 7, 2004, the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board adopted the Dow Jones Wilshire 4500 Completion Index as the benchmark index for the Small Capitalization Stock Index Investment Fund (S Fund).  The Dow Jones Wilshire 4500 Completion Index was calculated by Dow Jones Indexes.

The joint marketing agreement between Dow Jones Indexes and Wilshire Associates expired on March 31, 2009, and the Dow Jones Wilshire Indexes were discontinued.  On April 1, 2009, Dow Jones Indexes launched the Dow Jones Total Stock Market (TSM) Indexes, which include the Dow Jones U.S. Completion Total Stock Market Index.  Dow Jones Indexes announced that the Dow Jones TSM Index family is identical in form and substance to the Dow Jones Wilshire Index family, including its methodology, and historical values back to 1987.  Thus, the S Fund benchmark has been renamed the Dow Jones U.S. Completion Total Stock Market Index.
