The Obama Agenda Bogs Down
Fred Barnes, The Wall Street Journal
It usually doesn't happen this quickly in Washington. But President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats are finding that the old maxim that what goes around, comes around applies to them, too.

Liberal Suicide Watch
David Brooks, The New York Times
This ideological overreach won't be any more successful than the last one. A Washington Post-ABC News poll released Monday confirms what other polls have found. Most Americans love Barack Obama personally, but support for Democratic policies is already sliding fast.

The Carbonated Congress
The Wall Street Journal
President Obama is calling the climate bill that the House passed last week an "extraordinary" achievement, and so it is. The 1,200-page wonder manages the supreme feat of being both hugely expensive while doing almost nothing to reduce carbon emissions.

The Washington press corps is playing the bill's 219-212 passage as a political triumph, even though one of five Democrats voted against it. The real story is what Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House baron Henry Waxman and the President himself had to concede to secure even that eyelash margin among the House's liberal majority.   MORE

A Family's Valor, a Nation's Freedom
Karl Rove, The Wall Street Journal
At a dinner last week in California, I was reminded of the debt we owe to those who have, for 233 years, sustained our freedom and independence. One remarkable family in particular exemplifies the best in the American spirit of courage and sacrifice.

Sitting at my table was a friend, Christine Krissoff, wife of Dr. Bill Krissoff and mother of Nathan and Austin Krissoff. One of her sons, Marine First Lt. Nathan Krissoff, was killed in Al Anbar Province in December 2006. A Williams College grad, athlete and musician, he'd left for Iraq on the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He was 25.  MORE

"Reckless"

Deputy Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) put together this great video,"Reckless" which highlights the Democrats' rush to force legislation that will radically change healthcare for every man, woman, and child in America without providing them answers to important, fundamental questions.

Obama vs Obama on the Stimulus

The Stimulus was supposed to create jobs, where are they?

Has the Democrat "Stimulus" done its job? The President thinks so. House Republicans offered Real Solutions for a Real Recovery.

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) took to the House floor and read portions of 1,500-page national energy tax bill to the American people, explaining how it would to raise electricity prices, increase gasoline prices, and ship American jobs overseas to countries like China and India.

Blood Hounds: Where are the jobs?

At a time when Americans are looking to Washington for leadership, the trillion-dollar stimulus has been a wasteful failure. Americans were promised the stimulus would keep the unemployment rate from going above eight percent. Its now at 9.4 percent, and rising. Where are the jobs?

What did Speaker Pelosi Know

What did House Speaker Nancy Pelosi know and when did she know it?

Veterans Educational Equity Act

Under California law, public institutions of higher education may not charge tuition to in-state residents. The post-9/11 GI Bill calculates a veterans educational benefits based on the public tuition and fees charged to an in-state resident.

Thus, in California, veterans receive no tuition benefit and are often only allowed to use a fraction of their fee allotment at a private institution of higher education. The Veterans Educational Equity Act ensures Californias brave soldiers can benefit from the full amount to which they are entitled under the post-9/11 GI Bill.

The President's Budget

Californians and Americans across the country should be paying attention to what happened in Washington.  Democrats just passed through the House the President's budget, which amasses $5 trillion of debt in five short years - the same amount it took 43 presidents 232 years to do before this.  Over the next ten years under the Democrats' budget, my constituents can expect to contribute to at least $1.2 trillion in tax increases over the next ten years.  The President's budget spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much and is essentially generational theft.
