Individual Occupational Requirements for
GS-2144: Cargo Scheduling Series
The text below is extracted verbatim from
Section IV-B of the Operating Manual for Qualification Standards
for General Schedule Positions (p.IV-B-270), but contains minor edits
to conform to web-page requirements.
Use these individual occupational requirements in conjunction with
the "Group Coverage Qualification Standard for
Technical and Medical Support Positions."
Experience that provided a knowledge of transportation matters such as schedules,
routes, bills of lading, manifests, classification of commodities, packaging and preservation, loss and
damage prevention, transit privileges, rates, demurrage charges, diversions of shipments, handling costs,
etc.
Experience that involved scheduling the movement of cargo into or
through one or more freight terminals in the appropriate amounts in order to balance the flow with the
terminals' capacity to accommodate the freight and the carriers' capacity to transport the cargo.

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a)
with major study in transportation or traffic management, economics, business
administration, accounting, finance, statistics, or related fields, or (b) that included
or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in such subjects. |
