Privacy Policy:

We collect no personally identifiable information about you when you visit our site unless you choose to provide that information to us.

For the protection of users of our Web sites, we have safeguards in place to identify and prevent unauthorized attempts to access or cause harm to information and systems.

Cookies

"Cookies" are small bits of text that are either used for the duration of a session ("session cookies"), or saved on a user's hard drive in order to identify that user, or information about that user, the next time the user logs on to a Web site ("persistent cookies"). This Web site does not use persistent cookies or any other persistent tracking technology. One or more of our component sites may use session cookies to provide streamlined navigation. These session cookies are deleted from the component's server after your session ends and information from them is not collected or saved.

To read or download information:

For each http request received, we collect and store only the following information: the date and time, the originating IP address, the object requested, and the completion status of the request. We use this information that we collect to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, and to help us make our site more useful to visitors. This includes analyzing, the number of pages served, and the level of demand for pages of interest during a month. The logs may be preserved indefinitely and used at any time and in any way necessary to prevent security breaches and to insure the integrity of the data on our servers. We do not seek or collect any other data related to the specific users of our servers.

 To send us an E-mail:

By sending us an electronic mail message (for example, an E-mail message containing an official Freedom of Information Act request), you may be sending us personally identifying information (e.g., name, address, E-mail address). In these cases, we may store the personally identifying information of the requester in order to respond to the request or to otherwise resolve the subject matter of your E-mail.

 To register:

Some of our sites ask visitors who request specific information to fill out a registration form. Other information which may be collected at these sites through questionnaires, feedback forms, training registration or other means, enable us to determine a visitor's interests, with the goal of providing better service to our customers. We are in the process of ensuring that where specific information is requested from a visitor to a specific web site, that web site will disclose how the information will be handled. The Department of Commerce web site contains links to various other federal agencies and private organizations. Once you link to another site, please be aware that you are then subject to the policies of the new site. We want to be very clear: regardless of the information being transmitted to the Department of Commerce, we will protect all such information consistent with applicable law including, but not limited to, the Privacy Act of 1974 and the Freedom of Information Act.
