About 70 percent of workers in private industry had access to employer provided medical care benefits in March 2009.
Only 25 percent of the lowest wage earners received such benefits, compared to the 90 percent of the highest wage
earners.

State and local government employees have access to a variety of benefits, including
retirement plans (89 percent) and health benefits (87 percent) according to the National
Compensation Survey. The report also includes data on life insurance, disability insurance,
and a number of other benefits.
