Wilbur Packing Company Success Story

Wilbur Fruit Packing

Wilbur Packing Company
1500 Eager Road
Live Oak, CA 95953

Wilbur Packing Company is located in the heart of the largest plum growing areas in the world. The company is situated about 120 miles southeast of San Francisco in the Sacramento Valley. The Wilbur family has been farming in this area since 1869. They were among the first farmers to grow plums in California. Of the 3,000 acres planted to plums and walnuts, some 1,500 acres are plum orchards. The family is one of the largest producers of dried plums on the globe.

The Wilbur Ranch has been in business since 1869. Currently the fifth generation is farming the same ground. The Wilbur Family started Wilbur Packing Company, which is part of Wilbur Ranch, in 1992. The Wilbur Ranch and its Wilbur Packing Company have participated in several World Trade Center trade missions co-sponsored by the U.S. Commercial Service. Richard, Emily and Rick Wilbur have each met with U.S. Commercial Service, Foreign Agriculture Service, and World Trade Center trade specialists for up to date export counseling and market research. The company has in turn participated in several trade missions. Each trade mission has resulted in export success.

We look forward to further successes with the Wilbur family because they are diligently working at penetrating new international markets.

Wilbur Packing Company has worked very effectively with the World Trade Center, Foreign Agriculture Service and U.S. Commercial Service in its efforts to create new markets for its dried plums. By reaching out to foreign markets with its dried plum marketing strategies, the Wilbur Ranch has diversified its revenue streams and found new avenues of income for the family farm. Because of their success, the Wilbur Packing Company received the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Achievement Award for outstanding international business growth and success.
