Congressional Art Competition

I am proud to be working together with the Art Museum Complex of Duxbury on this year's 10th Congressional District Art Competition.

Artwork will be accepted in six categories: painting, drawing, print and mixed media, computer graphic and photography. All works must be two-dimensional, unframed, matted or mounted on black or white, and no larger than 30 by 30 inches to outside trim.

The winning entry, will be announced at a reception in mid April, and displayed in the US Capitol for a year as part of a national exhibition representing each participating Congressional District in the nation. In addition, the winning artist will be offered a four year renewable scholarship totaling $20,000 and roundtrip airfare to Washington DC for him/herself and a guardian to attend a special reception held in their honor. Entry forms and artwork must reach my office by April 26. Each school may submit up to 15 entries.

Instructions for Entries

  • Participating schools will be eligible to submit up to 15 pieces of 2D work in the following categories, drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, printmaking and digital imagery.
  • All work must be mounted or matted (white or black only), and finished piece not to exceed 30 inches by 30 inches to the outside trim
  • Clearly label all work with submission form, in duplicate attached to back
  • No frames, glass, plexiglass or wood strips allowed (canvas pieces may have wooden supports.
  • Protect all 2D surfaces with appropriate fixatives, transparent sheets, are highly recommended.
  • Obtain required signature, parental consent form, copyright release and plagiarism and authorship forms and attach in duplicate to the back of the mounted work.
  • Fill out the group inventory sheet in duplicate, keeping one.
  • Wrap all the work in heavy brown wrapping paper and place your Inventory sheet on the top. Label the outside of your package with the school’s name, your name or contact person and the total number of pieces inside.
  • Work must be grouped in brown craft paper, one grouping per school. Name of school, address, contact person and phone number must be clearly marked on the top of the craft paper package in black marker, approximately 2” lettering.

  • Submission Deadlines
