Nationwide Seminars for Bank Officers and Employees

Summary: The FDIC will host a series of six seminars for bank officers and employees that will provide comprehensive guidance on how to calculate FDIC deposit insurance coverage for their customers. Each seminar will begin with an approximately 100- minute audio presentation linked to a PowerPoint presentation. A question-and-answer period with FDIC deposit insurance coverage subject matter experts will follow. The six seminars will be conducted between August 24 and December 9, 2009, and are free to employees and officers of FDIC-insured banks and savings associations.

Highlights:

  • The FDIC will conduct six deposit insurance seminars between August 24 and December 9, 2009.
  • Each seminar will consist of an approximately 100- minute audio presentation linked to a PowerPoint presentation, followed by a question-and-answer period with FDIC deposit insurance coverage subject matter experts.
  • The FDIC has scheduled the seminars on different days of the week and at different times to allow scheduling flexibility for participants.
  • Bank officers and employees may participate in any of the six seminars.
  • Advance registration is required for each seminar. Instructions for registering are provided on pages 2 and 3 of this Financial Institution Letter.
  • PowerPoint slides are an integral part of the seminar presentation. Participants are strongly encouraged to have a copy of the slides with them during the FDIC staff presentation.
  • Instructions on accessing the PowerPoint presentation - in both PowerPoint and Acrobat Reader (PDF) formats - are provided on page 3.

Deposit Insurance Coverage
Nationwide Seminars for Bank Officers and Employees

The FDIC is offering six free seminars on deposit insurance coverage between August 24 and December 9, 2009. The seminars are open to employees and officers of all FDIC-insured banks and savings associations. Each seminar will begin with an approximately 100-minute audio presentation linked to a PowerPoint presentation that can be downloaded from the FDIC's Web site at www.fdic.gov. A question-and-answer period with FDIC deposit insurance coverage subject matter experts will follow. The seminar provides a comprehensive overview of the FDIC's deposit insurance rules, including important changes enacted in 2008 and in 2009. The seminar is ideal for bank employees who open deposit account products for their customers as well as employees who discuss deposit insurance coverage with their customers.

How to Register for Deposit Insurance Seminars

Seminar participants must register at least two business days before the event by following these procedures:

3. Enter 5893998 for the pass code.
4. Leave the PIN number blank.
5. Click on the "Proceed" button.
6. On the next page, provide name and e-mail address, then click the "Proceed" button. No additional information is needed.

At the conclusion of this process, the participant should receive an RSVP e-mail confirmation, along with the PIN that is required to join the teleconference on the date selected. If a confirmation is not received, the participant should recheck the e-mail address provided and repeat the registration process.
