The data from this State is questionable due to the large percentage of missing data.
Does not track non-welfare stepparent adoptions. Law defines relative as the fourth degree of consanguinity.
Includes great aunt/uncle, great grandparent, great great great grandparent, great great aunt/uncle, great great great grandparent, great great great aunt/uncle, adoptive sibling, biological sibling, first and second cousins, grandparent, parent-in-law, aunt/uncle. Fictive kin (ie. Godparents) are not included.
As a rule, stepparent adoptions are not done. This defaults to "does not apply" rather than "not reported", if stepparent is not selected. Will be corrected in new SACWIS system.
Other relative, foster parent, and other non-relative "not reported" and "does not apply" are coded as "Not reported". This cannot be corrected in the current technical environment, but will be corrected in the new SACWIS system.
