Los Angeles/Long Beach Ports Agreements

The Federal Maritime Commission ("FMC") administers the Shipping Act of 1984 (the "Act") and agreements between Marine Terminal Operators ("MTOs") are filed with the Commission pursuant to the Act. The FMC's responsibilities include evaluating the potential anti-competitive impacts of agreements to ensure that activities of the agreement parties do not result in unreasonable increases in transportation cost or reductions in service, or otherwise give rise to unreasonable practices under the Act.

A number of agreements have been filed with the FMC by the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach as MTOs. To assist the public in locating information on these agreements and related matters, the list shown below will be updated frequently to include a variety of documents, including Commission press releases, copies of agreement filings and court pleadings.
