TVA Donates $5,000 to East Mississippi Community College

SCOOBA, Miss. –TVA has donated $5,000 to East Mississippi Community
College to help strengthen the quality of technical education at the college.
“EMCC is very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with TVA in training and
economic development capacities,” said EMCC President Dr. Rick Young. “This
donation shows TVA’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for people in this
region through financial support of education.”
”TVA is pleased to be able to support the local community and strengthen our
partnership with East Mississippi Community College,” said TVA Customer Service
General Manager Terry Kemp. “The donation will help area students prepare for future
career opportunities.”
TVA recruits from local colleges, including EMCC, for its craft and apprentice
programs.
TVA’s Corporate Contributions supports public education programs that
emphasize learning activities associated with energy and environmental education as
well as vocational and technical education in skill areas that are vital to TVA’s workforce.
TVA supports institutions that educate and train individuals with skills that TVA, power
distributors and industries locating in the region will need in the future.
TVA partners with 28 local power distributors located in 36 Mississippi counties
serving more than 312,000 households.
TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financed.
TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve 8.6 million
consumers in seven southeastern states.
