HPC Products in KML Format


HPC is now providing a subset of its product suite in KeyHole Markup Language (KML) format.   KML is used by a variety of GIS and mapping applications, including Google Earth, ArcGIS Explorer, Microsoft Virtual Earth, NASA WorldWind View, and numerous others, to display geospatial data on two-dimensional maps and three-dimensional Earth browsers.
 
Currently, the following products are available in KML format:

A free version of Google Earth is available for download at
http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html, along with an accompanying user guide.
 
View a screen shot of HPC's QPF as depicted in Google Earth.
 
In addition to KML, HPC creates many of its guidance products in shapefile format; these are available for download at ftp://ftp.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/shapefiles.
