WIND TURBINE GUIDELINES ADVISORY COMMITTEE:
Announcement of Public Meeting

September 1 - 3, 2009

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will host a public meeting of the Wind Turbine Guidelines Advisory Committee at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Rooms 200 A&B, Arlington, Virginia. The meeting agenda will include reports from Subcommittees and discussion of the current draft Recommendations to the Secretary. Welcome to the Service’s Wind Turbine Guidelines Advisory Committee webpage.  This site will be updated regularly to provide information pertaining to Committee meetings, and will include all documents made available to or produced by the Committee. 

Committee Background

On October 24, 2007, Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne announced the appointment of 22 individuals as members of the Wind Turbine Guidelines Advisory Committee.  The Committee was formed and will function in accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA).  The scope and objective of the Committee, as outlined in its charter, is to provide advice and recommendations to the Secretary on developing effective measures to avoid or minimize impacts to wildlife and their habitats related to land-based wind energy facilities.  The Committee members represent the varied interests associated with wind energy development and wildlife management.  Current Committee members are listed below:
