Harold
(Lynn) Petty Named TVA Engineer of the Year

CHATTANOOGA,
Tenn. — Harold (Lynn) Petty, site engineering supervisor in TVA’s
Fossil Power Group in Chattanooga, was recognized today as TVA Engineer
of
the Year for helping maintain environmental compliance at TVA fossil
plants throughout the Tennessee Valley.
Petty
was selected for his work in environmental compliance at fossil plants,
particularly in the areas of oil containment and waste pond
management. He is recognized as a fossil plant engineering authority
in environmental
permitting for TVA.
“Lynn
Petty is helping TVA meet the goal of supplying affordable, reliable
power while setting a standard for environmental excellence for cleaner
air within TVA’s fossil power system,” TVA Chairman Glenn
McCullough Jr. said on behalf of the TVA Board. “His dedication
to environmental awareness and leadership in ensuring TVA’s
compliance with environmental requirements has earned him recognition
as engineer
of the year.”
Fossil
Power Group Executive Vice President Joe Bynum presented a certificate
to Petty at a TVA Board meeting in Chattanooga.
“Lynn
Petty is known throughout TVA for his engineering expertise on environmental
requirements at TVA fossil plants,” Bynum said. “His efforts
have improved environmental compliance, helped reduce the cost of waste
disposal, and
improved operational efficiency at TVA fossil plants.”
Petty
has been with TVA 25 years. He has bachelor’s and master’s
degrees in civil engineering from the University of Memphis. He lives
in Chattanooga.
TVA
is the nation’s largest producer of electricity and is completely self-financed.
TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve
about 8.3 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
