Bill Adams Joins TVA Economic Development Staff

Bill Adams, a former recruitment specialist for the Mississippi
Development Authority, has joined TVA’s Economic Development staff
as part of a new marketing development department created to assist the
Tennessee Valley Industrial Development Association in industrial recruitment.
TVIDA works with economic development agencies to provide
industrial prospects with an integrated package of economic incentives.
Eight regional
industrial development associations, which include representatives of
local power companies and TVA, make up TVIDA.
As a target market specialist, Adams will work
and cultivate relationships with site consultants for the automotive,
plastics, electronics, food,
logistics and distribution, biotechnology, and technology-based industries.
“The Marketing Development department was formed
to help support TVIDA’s
goal of generating more industrial leads, which result in job growth,
increased capital investment, and a better quality of life for the people
of the Tennessee Valley,” said TVA’s Senior Vice President of Economic
Development, John Bradley. “Bill’s expertise and experience
will be a tremendous asset in helping TVA and TVIDA attract new businesses
and expanding existing ones.”
Prior to joining TVA, Adams was a recruitment specialist
for the past six years
in the Mississippi Development Authority’s Business Development and Trade
Division, where he specialized in recruiting automotive industry. He joined the
MDA in Jackson, Miss., in 1994 as a community development block grant/loan fund
manager.
In fiscal year 2003, TVA worked with the eight members
of the TVIDA to help companies attract or retain more than 47,000 jobs.
TVA provided more than $20.6 million
in economic development loans.
TVA is the nation’s largest public power producer and is completely self-financed.
TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve
8.3 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
