The NCSD works in coordination with public and private sectors to promote the security, resilience, and reliability of the nation’s cyber infrastructure.  Moreover, the NCSD coordinates public and private sector cyber preparedness activities and aids in the preparation for, response to and recovery from any catastrophic incidents that would degrade or overwhelm our national cyber systems.

The National Cyber Security Division is part of the National Protection and Programs Directorate's Office of Cybersecurity and Communications, which also includes the National Communications System and the Office of Emergency Communications.
