GOV. RITTER APPOINTS DISTRICT COURT JUDGE IN 1st JUDICIAL DISTRICT


Gov. Bill Ritter today announced the appointment of Christine Bachmeyer Phillips of Evergreen as a District Court Judge in the 1st Judicial District, which serves Jefferson County.

 

Phillips has been the chief deputy district attorney for the 1st Judicial District since 1993. Her work with the District Attorney’s Office has included misdemeanor and traffic cases, juvenile court and domestic violence cases. From 1989 to 1993, she was an associate with Weller, Friedrich, Ward and Andrew as a civil litigator.

 

She earned her B.A. from California State University at Fresno in 1980, and her J.D. from the University of Colorado in 1989.

 

The appointment is effective immediately, and the annual salary for the position is $128,598. The initial term of office is a provisional term of two years, and then until the second Tuesday in January following the next general election. Thereafter, if retained by the voters, the term for a District Court Judge is six years.
