The Regional VIII Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency takes great pleasure in presenting the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region VIII Distinguished Partners in Preparedness Award to Ms. Deanna Erstad in recognition of her outstanding service to community preparedness in the State of Colorado.  Ms. Erstad¿s leadership, initiative, and technical expertise were absolutely essential in creating a dynamic and sustainable community preparedness program throughout the North Central Region of the State.  Her dedication and vision resulted in several noteworthy achievements that included: supervising the planning efforts and incident command operations for the second and third Annual Colorado Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Summer Games, highly successful events that build an esprit de corps among the CERT teams from around the State through competitive events and a full-scale exercise; providing superior leadership of the North Central Region Special Needs Committee which in cooperation with local governments implemented a special needs population registry, developed guidelines for special needs shelter operations, and delivered training for assisted living facility providers throughout the region.  Ms. Erstad¿s steadfast support for other key preparedness activities such as the North Central Region Citizen Corps Council, Ready Colorado, and the Denver Regional Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) are a testament to her commitment to the citizens of Colorado and have directly contributed to improved capabilities and stronger partnerships in the Region.  Ms. Erstad¿s unwavering dedication and contributions to the Colorado North Central Region are most heartily commended and have strengthened the preparedness mission of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
