FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 26, 2008 Release Number 20082612-02 Two civilian contractors wounded in IED attack KABUL, Afghanistan – Two civilian contractors were wounded this morning in western Afghanistan when their convoy was struck by a suicide vehicle bomber. The incident took place about 9:20 a.m. The injured personnel have been transported to medical facilities. Coalition personnel have secured the scene, and the incident is under investigation. -30- United States Forces Afghanistan’s mission, in coordination with NATO’s International Security Assistance Force, is to conduct operations to defeat terrorist networks and insurgents by developing effective governance and building the Afghan National Security Force. Effective security throughout the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan facilitates continued regional stability and increases economic development for the people of Afghanistan.
