Agriculture and Food Research Initiative - Animal Health and Well-Being: Tools and Resources

Strengthening the Nation's capacity to protect animal agriculture from disease losses and threats arising from high impact endemic diseases, new or re-emerging challenges, or foreign diseases accidentally or intentionally introduced is a major challenge facing the United States. A major obstacle to advances in veterinary immunology and disease control is the lack of sufficient publicly available immunological reagents specific for ruminants, swine, poultry, equine and aquaculture species. In response, in FY 2005, the National Research Initiative initiated support for the US Veterinary Immune Reagent Network to begin to address this reagent gap for the U.S. veterinary immunology research community. This program makes single function research awards.
