Los Volcanes Golf Club (LVGC) has begun its 2006 league season. LVGC will play until further notice at Ladera Golf Course located at Ladera and Sequoia NW on Tuesday beginning at 9:30 am weather permitting. When warmer weather arrives some adjustments to tee times may occur. League play is open to members of Albuquerque senior centers, male or female. Handicaps are established weekly based on past performance in league play. USGA handicaps are not required. Seniors are entitled to discounts on greens fees and cart rentals, if desired. Club rentals are available if you don’t have your own. This is not an instructional league. Some golf experience is useful, thought talent is not prerequisite. Tim Mahoney is coordinating the league this season. Call him at 480- 7082 if you wish to play or if you have any questions. Call before Sundays if you wish to play the following Tuesday. We need to confirm how many will be playing with the Ladera Pro Shop.

Adapted Aquatics

The Adapted Aquatics program, part of the Senior Sports & Fitness Program, is taught at the University of New Mexico’s therapy pool and transportation is provided from all seven Senior Centers. Exercises are done in a heated pool of approximately 92 degrees. The warm water and buoyancy help the participants increase strength, flexibility and range of motion. The class works all parts of the body with special emphasis on increasing mobility. It is an excellent class for those suffering from arthritis and range of motion problems. All classes are conducted by Senior Sports and Fitness instructors, who are evaluated yearly for safety and effectiveness. Each participant must complete a registration form before attending his/her first class. The cost for each class is 50¢ for transportation and 50¢ for the pool.
