Due to the fact that asbestos has been used extensively in residential, commercial and industrial construction, District Regulation 11-2-401.3 requires that for every renovation involving the removal of 100 sq ft/lin ft or greater of Regulated Asbestos Containing Material, and for every demolition (even when no asbestos is present), a notification must be made to the BAAQMD at least 10 working days (except in special circumstances) prior to commencement of demolition/renovation.

Strategic Incentives

The Air District offers a grants and incentive funding for project that improve air quality in the Bay Area.

Most of the funding is reserved for projects that reduce or eliminate pollution from mobile sources, such as cars, trucks, marine vessels, locomotives, and construction equipment. Mobile sources contribute most of the air pollution in the Bay Area.

The Air District invests incentive funding via public agencies, private companies, and Bay Area residents. Those interested in clean air grants and incentives are encouraged to review the information for their type of project on this website, and to contact the Air District with questions.
