Minority Business Office

The mission of the Minority Business Office (MBO) is to promote development of existing and new minority businesses across the state and to establish a network for distribution of information listing references that are available to help new and existing businesses across the state.

The MBO is responsible for serving in an advisory capacity to the Governor and General Assembly.

Activities and Objectives

  • Act as a clearinghouse to disseminate information to the minority business community.
  • Establish networks between the majority and minority business sector. Increase minority participation in public and private sector contracting.
  • Establish a link between the minority business community and the Governor's office.

In 2006, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (COEDIT) identified a need to give women and minority owned businesses a voice.  COEDIT conducted a statewide survey to determine what small businesses needed to be successful in the state of Colorado.  More than 7,000 respondents had an opportunity to have their voice heard and to make a difference in the programs offered by the state.
