Breastfeeding
Where: Where do the highest or lowest breastfeeding prevalences occur?
Surveillance data are analyzed by place to determine where a health
problem is occurring in a population. The county level or “B” analysis of
the PedNSS Table 7, Comparison of Breastfeeding, TV Viewing, and Smoking
in Household, provides a ranked comparison of breastfeeding prevalence by
county. Therefore, data can be examined to determine where the highest or
lowest prevalence occurs. The counties with the lowest prevalences should
be assessed to determine appropriate interventions to improve
breastfeeding initiation and duration. Knowing where the highest
breastfeeding prevalence occurs enables user to identify and investigate
factors that may have had a positive impact on breastfeeding prevalence.

Adams county was ranked the best or 1st (1) with the
highest prevalence of infants ever breastfed (73.1%). This county
almost met the Healthy People 2010 target of 75 percent of
infants that were ever breastfed. |

to the state WIC program and the national PedNSS. |

Adams county had the best or highest ever breastfed prevalence (73.1%)
in the state WIC program.
