Jim Teske, the first Southern Great Plains (SGP) Site Operations Manager, retired on September 17, 2004. Jim arrived in early 1992 when the SGP became operational, and since that time has expertly managed the SGP Operations staff. Jim received an USDOE plaque acknowledging his invaluable contributions at the 2004 Science Team Meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in March. The plaque read “In recognition of your contributions to the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Program as Site Operations Manager for the Southern Great Plains (SGP) Climate Research Facility. Your outstanding leadership and organization have been pivotal in establishing and operating the SGP as well as in successfully executing many Intensive Operation Periods at the SGP. Your efforts and dedication to the ARM Program are sincerely valued and greatly appreciated.” Jim will truly be missed, and we wish him all the best in his well earned retirement.
