Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU)

On-site credit union/bank: Bldg. 400, Ext. 2790

Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU) is a full-service financial institution located on site in the Research Support Building (Bldg. 400). The on-site TFCU branch is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday; and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

TFCU offers free checking, share savings, and money market accounts, as well as travelers’ checks, VISA credit cards, loans, mortgages, and share certificates of deposit. Laboratory employees, facility-users, and guests with BNL identification cards can cash BNL payroll checks at TFCU. The credit union, however, cannot cash personal or traveler’s checks unless you are a TFCU member.

Cafeteria

Located in Berkner Hall, Bldg. 488, BNL’s 400-seat cafeteria is operated by Nayyarson and is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., for breakfast and lunch. The Cafeteria is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

The menu changes daily (see the online menu), but always features hot and cold entrees, salads, sandwiches, and grill items. The week’s menu for the cafeteria is available via the INFO Hotline, Ext. 4636, press 1 for the hotline menu, press 4 for food service, press 1 for daytime food service.

Brookhaven Center Club

Located in the Brookhaven Center, Bldg. 30, the Center Restaurant is open 5 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursdays for after-work supper and get-togethers.

During the work week, a full menu of dinners is offered from 5 until 8 p.m. The kitchen remains open from 8 until 9 p.m., offering a more limited menu. In addition to the regular menu, there are nightly dinner specials. Happy hour on Fridays features drink specials and a hot and cold buffet beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The Center Restaurant is closed on Saturday, Sunday and all Lab holidays (including the evening before holidays. Take-out orders are always welcome. Major credit cards are accepted.

Upton Industries (Service Station)

on-site gasoline station and car repair: Bldg. 630, Ext. 4034

Upton Industries is a full-service gas station and garage located in Bldg. 630, which is on Rochester Street at the intersection with Rowland, nearby to Bell Avenue and the Biology Department.

Our four service bays and gas pumps are open for business Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. The station is closed Saturday and Sunday, and all Lab holidays.

Our certified and licensed mechanics are qualified to perform all scheduled maintenance and to make any necessary repairs to all makes and models of cars, SUVs, and light trucks. We do tune ups, brake jobs, tire sales, repairs, and more.

As an official inspection station licensed by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, we are qualified to perform the mandatory annual safety inspection and emission testing of vehicles to comply with the 1990 federal Clear Air Act.

We also sell three grades of gasoline: unleaded, unleaded plus and super unleaded. And, you don’t have to get out of your car because we pump the gas for you. We will also provide on-site road service and towing.
