Hospitality Committee

welcomes new BNLers and their families

The BNL Hospitality Committee welcomes new BNLers and their families.  The committee provides friendship, fellowship and information about life at the Lab and its surroundings. The Committee members speak many different languages, some of which include Dutch, German, Hindi, Italian, French, Japanese, Mandarin, Taiwanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and English. Some events sponsored by the Hospitality Committee are:

  • Welcome Coffee - Meets every Tuesday from 10:30am-12pm in the Lounge at the Recreation Building 317. Meet new people and socialize! The first Tuesday of each month is a brunch that welcomes newcomers and bids farewell to friends.
    - July and August Tuesday Coffee Meetings will resume in September.
  • Knitting Club - Meets every Tuesday from 2-4pm in the Lounge at the Recreation Building 317. Sit, knit, crochet, and talk just for the fun of it! Children are welcome! You don’t know how to knit? Don’t worry! We’ll teach you. Come learn the basics of hand knitting, and treat yourself to a lifetime of creative relaxation.
  • Play Group
    - Every Wednesday from 10am-12 Noon in the main room at the Recreation Building. Parents meet while the children play. Drop in anytime.
    - July and August the group will meet informally at the playground in the apartment area.
  • Cooking and Craft Club - Meets every Thursday at 2pm in the Recreation Building 317. See Calendar of Events for a list of activities and more information.
  • Recreation Hall Lounge is open from 5:30pm-9:30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday for family fun, games, piano, videos and books.
  • The BNL English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program offers informal English classes to help with your conversational English and opportunities to practice presentation skills. For more information see PDF flyer
