Mexico City, August 23, 2005 — “Thanks to quick action on the part of Mexico’s immigration authorities and the U.S. Marshals Service, Colton Pitonyak will be held accountable in the United States for one of the most horrific murders ever committed in the State of Texas,” said U.S. Ambassador in Mexico Tony Garza. “The deportation and arrest of this savage criminal proves that cooperation between our two countries is ongoing and effective, blunting the delusions of fugitives who hope they can escape the consequences of their crimes. With the arrest of Mr. Pitonyak, the family of his victim, Jennifer Cave, will see that justice is done,” the Ambassador added.
Mexican immigration authorities today deported the fugitive Colton Pitonyak to the United States. Pitonyak is accused of brutally murdering 21 year-old Jennifer Cave in her Austin, Texas apartment on August 17. Mexican immigration authorities, working in concert with the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested Pitonyak at a hotel in Piedras Negras, Mexico early this morning. He was deported to the United States at approximately 2:30 A.M. today.
